Context

TIM launches " TIM AI Challenge ", an open and collaborative initiative that intends to mobilize the Italian innovative ecosystem to accelerate the digital transformation of Italian companies and the Public Administration by leveraging the most modern Artificial Intelligence solutions.

The Challenge, created in collaboration with the partners EIT Digital, Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center, Osservatorio Startup Thinking Politecnico di Milano and ImpreSapiens - Sapienza University of Rome, aims to improve the portfolio of AI solutions offered, further enrich the services to support companies and administrations and study and encourage the evolution of the sector thanks to the activation of new collaborations with innovative companies operating in the sector.

Why AI and why now


In Italy, the AI ​​market at the end of 2022 was $1.7B, growing by 34.1% per year until 2027 when it will reach a value of $7.65B (source: Artificial Intelligence Market, Global Forecast to 2027).

AI is one of the areas in which the TIM Group is active, in particular with TIM Enterprise, and is working from an open ecosystem perspective, leveraging the largest ICT platform in the country and the cloud as enabling elements. The collaboration with other partners has the aim of combining the forces of the main players in the sector to further encourage and accelerate the transformation path of companies and public administration, thanks to experiences and assets that can be made available to the country.

Who we are looking for

Italian and international companies, startups, SMEs and scaleups with innovative Artificial Intelligence solutions that leverage the most modern cloud technologies and are able to accelerate the digital transformation path of companies and public administrations, making processes and systems more efficient and optimizing interaction with the customer.

Solutions relating to the following areas will be privileged, albeit not exclusively:

  • intelligent data processing
  • Natural Language Processing

Evaluation and Awards

Recipients of the Challenge can be Italian and international companies, startups, scaleups and innovative SMEs that will be evaluated according to the criteria indicated in the Regulation .

    TIM Award

  • TIM Award: integration into TIM's AI/Cloud offering portfolio.
  • TIM has a Smart City platform - TIM Urban Genius - already adopted by some of the main Italian municipalities, including Milan and Venice. It is an open platform capable of allowing rapid integration of third-party vertical services. Leveraging on this platform and on its widespread sales channel throughout Italy, the companies selected by TIM will have privileged access to the smart city market and the possibility of further growth in terms of customers and turnover.

    Partner Rewards

  • EIT Digital: Pitching session with EIT Digital Grow Services managers aimed at assessing the company's readiness to raise funds internationally and expand its market presence outside the domestic market.
  • Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center: participation, within 12 months following the end of the Challenge, in one of the initiatives organized or promoted by Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center within its network.
  • Politecnico di Milano Startup Thinking Observatory: in participating in 1 (one) closed-door workshop of the Startup Intelligence Observatory organized by the Observatories and in accessing some of the Observatories' research reports to be defined in agreement with the Activities Manager.
  • ImpreSapiens – Sapienza University of Rome: free 6-month incubation program at the Business Innovation Hub (BIH).
